Steiner quick, pass me your new patato masher grenade there's Tommy on our forum!
It's bleeding marvelouse aint it fritz. First you shoot at us, then you ask us to "Join together in the stuggle against global bolshevism", then when we try to join your heroic struggle you bleeding throw grenades at us. No bugger wants poor old Tommy Atkins.

If i remember correctly, the germans just used to call the smocks/helmet covers "camouflage" and that it wasnt until after the war that people decided that it came in several flavours (plane tree, oak, palm print, burred edge) - am i remembering this correctly?
Absolutely correct! It was the allies who classified thecamo types. I am interested but i think the idea of us using what we have is a good idea. I have a camo tunic which is not official issue but was made by individuals.
One of the reasons i havent done re-enacting is the anality of the uniform requirements down to the type of stitching to be used. ~ I hope this is not the way ww2 airsoft is going. I think it should be kept quite casual, so as not to intimidate newcomers. I like the idea of a small waffen ss squad being really lethal even art normal airsoft days. I played at CSU today in my german gear with kermit and steiner and the level of interest was amazing. as wellas being the best dressed people there.

Verdamnt right!

One of Barry Lyndons Feldgrau tunics comes with collar tabs and a Hohenstaufen cuff title included! Count me in as part of a cohesive unit with some semblance of uniformity.
Won't be showing my face until Churchills' revenge but I will be uber keen to get amongst it by then, with a half decent loadout as well.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Baron, All joking aside I think british free corps is a bit of a bad idea, for a few reasons
1) They were all british soldiers, recruited from POW Camps in europe, making them Traitors
2) It was a relatively small unit, which only fought on the eastern front, limiting your potential battles
3)See point 1, making it a sore point for a few people(including many of my older friends)
On the goodside, they used british Drill commands and movements, so You would be able to do convincing drill with limited skill.
However an SS unit such as LAH spearheaded every advance of the war, Making everything doable with the same/ minimal different uniforms.

Britische FreiKorps, were never issued with weapons, making it a bad choice for any airsoft mission , as well as being deeply distasteful . Their main job was visiting POW camps and trying the get Brits to serve the Germans , something they did with no success. It is also believed the Germans executed them in all in the final stages of the war, saving us a job .
I would say they were on a par with other criminals such as the Dirlewanger Brigade, as such a very poor choice for reenactment or airsoft, as well as running you the risk of being associated with the extreme right . Their unit is best forgotten IMHO .

I agree mate. Best to go for Plain German Riflemen, be that SS, WH or FJ.

Ditto on the above comments. Whilst it is not place to tell people what is acceptable and what is not, I feel that those that portray the Waffen SS can all too easily get caught up in the fallout of the "political" wings of the SS. My grandad had nothing but respect for the Waffen SS units he encountered in Normandy but he also had nothing but contempt for the nazis. It's out of respect for those that fought and died in WW2 that we should not portray units like the freikorps, dirlewanger or any others associated with treason or genocide.
My tuppence worth on the matter.

Well, it you guys can get something definitive sorted then I'll see what we can do about sorting a private sub-forum for you...

Haven't got time to post these individually, but, as I said earlier I would post some photos of what I would like to see as the standard, immpression for the Hohenstaufen airsoft team, I'll price it up later this week, and if anyone is short of a few items for the Armhem event we can make up the deficiencies from spares and gear that I can get hold of.
http://subhost.eu/site.ww2airsoft/gallery.htm . I think we've got about seven or eight interested parties so far, I'll PM everyone and draw up an orbat, for NCO's, sniper team, MG team and Grenadiers. We're still looking for recruits or Freiwilliger, so PM me or post here if you want to enlist!
I like the idea of this, and could also be tempted esp if I get hold of a sidecar outfit, however looking at the geography it could be difficult to get people together . Just a thought .
If this takes off and I hope that it does, because there seems to be enough interest so far, I don't think geography will be too much of a problem, its not as if people won't travel to decent airsoft sites, as that's exactly what we're all doing for the Arnhem event, give it a go and see how it all pans out.
"BTW Sweaty my motor cycle and side car arrive next week delived to the front door, no probs, I'll post some photos when it comes! Thinking of putting a few images of Hohenstaufers on Arnies in a bare arsed cheek attempt to get more interest, what do you think?"
Just priced up The kit from SOF. Its not a minimum you need, just what I would be comfortable with. Just a snip under
